Lorca Simons was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas where she grew up in her father’s experimental theatre Hip Pocket, performing in numerous plays throughout her life, many written and directed by her father Johnny Simons and produced and designed by her mother Diane. Lorca performed with HPT in Scotland at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival and London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall. She attended The North Carolina School of the Arts and Duke University before moving to New York City. 

She has appeared in several Off-Broadway productions, including “Collected Stories” playing opposite legendary Uta Hagen (The Lucille Lortel Theatre), Horton Foote’s “Habitation Of Dragons” (HB Playwrights), “Savage Love” (Culture Project & HPT), “Careless Love” (SoHo Rep), “Trio Molemo” (HERE), and ” Fear and Misery of the Third Reich”(CSC).  As well as numerous regional productions including “Restoring the Sun” opposite Richard Easton,  “Notebook Of Trigorin”, “Of Mice and Men” (DTC), “Big Love” (DTC), “Syncopation” (The Long Wharf & The George Street Playhouse), “On The Road” (HPT), “The Collected Works of Billy the Kid” (DTC), “Three Tall Women” (The Intiman Theatre), “The Notebook of Trigorin” (A Contemporary Theatre), “The Nina Variations” (ACT), “A Midsummer Night's Dream” (Great Lakes Theatre Festival & HPT), “Collected Stories”(George Street Playhouse), “On the Verge” (Virginia Stage Company), “Picnic” (HPT), “Freaks” (HPT), “Trio Molemo” (HPT), and “Cat On A Hot Tin Roof”(DTC). 

Lorca has performed in several first national tours, including Edward Albee’s “Three Tall Women” opposite Marian Seldes and Michael Learned, as well as an extended run of “Collected Stories” with Uta Hagen at The Stratford Festival and The Saidye Bronfman Centre for the Arts in Canada. 

Her film and television credits include: Miracle on the Hudson, No Reservations, Law & Order, Law & Order SVU, 100 Centre Street, Pluto Nash, 5 Up 2 Down, As the World Turns, and several national network ad campaigns as well as voice-overs. 

She was given the Critics Forum Award for outstanding performance by an actress in “Savage/Love”. She participated in Donna Karan’s “Urban Zen Initiative” supporting programs that advance integrative medicine.

Lorca trained and collaborated with 5 Rhythms pioneer Gabrielle Roth from the mid-90’s and is the co-founder and director of 5RT, the experimental theatre wing of the 5 Rhythms world where she is actively creating theatre labs like “Live Wire”; which is being produced this year in London, Hamburg, New York City and Paris, as well as original theatre productions.

Currently Lorca is further developing “Water Bearer’s Dream”; a journey across the great waters of the heart embodying the collective and fundamental struggle inherent in becoming a mother, as well as a piece titled “Love Letters to a Raven”.
